I was a Head Start child and I graduated from high school and went on to Medical Assistant school and graduated. After relocating to Atlanta, GA, I became a Head Start parent and Head Start gave me an opportunity to gain more education in a different field -- the field of working with pre-school children by solely supporting me to receive my Nat'l Child Development Associate Credential.
The program strongly supports self-help skills in young children as well as a solid foundation in teaching the alphabet, letter sounds, number recognition, social skills, family style dining and much more. The program has been a blessing to me and many more people in the community where I live. The program assess the whole child needs as well as the entire family.
The Head Start program has been standing for 40 years and doing great, wonderful things for low income families. PLEASE.....let's keep Head Start alive!!!!!!
