My girls were in the Head Start program and learned alot and our family as a whole got closer together then ever before. The program helped my girls become more independant and capable of making decisions on things that were important to them.
My girls are now in elementry school and would be way behind if the didn't have the love and support of their teachers in the Head Start Program. My middle child was in the program for 2 years and the first year she never talked to anyone. She would point at what she wanted or shake her head yes or no when asked a question. By the middle of the 2nd year she was talking in full sentances and was able to tell the teacher's what she wanted and she learned from her teacher to be a compasionate person. She loved helping a little boy in her classroom that was disabled which she would have never done before.
I also have a 2 year old in the Early Head Start program now. And she is a spunky independant 2 year old. She does things that her sisters couldn't do at the age of 3. Without the program she would not be where she is today. She loves the fact that she gets to go into a classroom next year.
Taking away this program will hurt the community's that have it for years to come. The children of today are our future. Please give our children the right HEADSTART, and keep funding our program.
Sincerely,
Tara Hudson
