I'm the mother of 2 boys. Jason was born in 1973, Toby was born in 1974. Divorce devastated our family. We were so financially poor I didn't know where the next loaf of bread was coming from. All we could afford to do for our family activity was to go to the library and get books, and we'd read for hours.
Both of my boys were involved in Head Start although I'm unclear of the exact years. I remember one Head Start female teacher had told me Jason was exceptionally gifted, I told her they both were. And that's true. Jason is now an attorney and Toby is a pediatric registered nurse & catch this...their ole Mom managed to get her BA degree, honor student, at the age of 51, plus work a full-time job!
