Speech Help

by NHSA Editor

y 4 year old son has attended Head Start for the past year. Befor I got him in to Head Start I was having a very hard time getting him the speech help that he despretly needed. I had fought with my school to help and they keep saying he did not need it at all while everyone else had told me that he did. With the help from Head Start he finaly is getting the help.

I have to say that they helped in one of the hardest things to get for my child. I am hopeing that they are going to be around when my daughter is ready to go. I would love to have my child in a place I know they know what they are doing with childeren.

To end off with this program is the best thing for younge childeren to be invold in. I thank you for alwoing my son to be apart of it.

Sincerely,

Shannon M. Utter

"Sharon, thank you for sharing your story. Head Start is a wonderful program, with many stories of successful outcomes, however, the stories do not get told often enough. Today, when Head Start is facing so many challenges and changes that threaten the original intent of the program, it is extremely important that we get the word out! Head Start, in its present form works! We never know whose story will be the one that touches the heart of legislators and cause them to agressively move forward in support of full funding for Head Start, restoration of key parent involvement activities and the giving of monetary support for teacher qualification initiatives. Maybe it will be your story, or mine, or someone else's. At any rate, together, we are a stronger voice, we are a viable force to be reckon with. Keep telling your story, because it is stories like yours (and mine) that will keep Head Start alive and well."
