Dream

by Kristin Collins

Last night I had a strange dream about making out with someone named Bill.  I met Bill in his pick-up, parked in his driveway.  I just climbed in.  I had a beard, and so did he.  Actually, I think I was a man.   I new immediately that I was there with the sole purpose to make out with Bill.  After our introduction in the pick-up we climed the stairs at the back of his two family house and went to his bedroom. His mom caught us making out there, and his beard disappeared.  I think I still had mine for a while.  She noticed I was a girl, and said, " I hope this one is at least older then 13 or 14."  I shouted to her from Bill's bed as she walked away with frizzy hair and a basket full of laundry, " I'm more then 24!".  Bill was in his 30's and he still lived with his mom-An apparent man-child...but I loved him momentarily.  I just wanted him to know when we were through tumbleing around...that everything was cool, that I respected him, and that he'd probably never hear of the situation  from me ever again.  I leaned up against his white t-shirt clad chest in the kitchen of his mother's house....and that was the end.

"I haven't been dreaming much lately (too much work, I think) though my latest was pretty amazing: I rented a white van with my sister (Laura) and drove it down the windy, tree-lined road to a friend's house (Peter) when we came upon my grade school crush *powerwalking* in the same direction (Danya, she had bluish veins hiding just underneath her forehead and temples, a fetish I've had ever since). We didn't stop to say hello, but I did my best to see as much of her as I could in my side mirror without my sister knowing. We arrived at Peter's shortly after and his family and some others were gathered around the yard, sitting in low folding chairs arranged in a circle. Everyone was smiling but things weren't well -- Peter, who had dedicated part of his life to charity, was struggling with liver cancer or worse, and I was finding out right then. So I woke up. Anyway, KC, when you mention Bill, a new friend of mine here in LA named Bill comes to mind. He's gay, but it's fun to picture you two together!"
