Sunday Guacamole

by Russell Armand

This recipe has been prepared and iterated countless times over the past five years, first for kicks on East 9th Street, then for show on Withers Street. This is the best recipe for guacamole and is traditionally prepared on Sundays.

Ingredients
  • 3 avocados, ripe
  • 1 heirloom tomato, large
  • 1 sweet yellow onion, large
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 2 limes
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp salt
Directions
  1. Dice tomato and onion, set aside
  2. Crush and mince garlic, set aside
  3. Wedge limes, squeeze juice into large mixing bowl
  4. Halve avocados lengthwise, discard pits, squeeze fruit into mixing bowl
  5. Add garlic, cumin, salt
  6. Mash mixture with fork
  7. Add tomato, onion, fold the mixture over
  8. Scoop mixture into small clean bowl and serve!

"I can attest to the delicousness of the recipe. What makes it all the better is you never know if its creator will be in the mood to prepare it. He (the above penner Russell) sometimes likes to tantalize large groups of friends by bringing all the listed ingredients and then leaving them in the plastic bag untouched while he goes in the living room to eat White Castle. But Oh, when he makes it. Never has a more glorious avocado mixture passed through my lips..."

"Best served with Damien Carney's Spicy Bloody Marys. If someone is willing to offer up some enticement (a topless photo for instance) he might be persuaded to share the recipe here."

"I ordered guacamole two nights ago. It was as brown as a week old Avacado that's been sitting on a kitchen counter in the sun. I ate it anyway, and lucky for a stuffed up nose, it tasted just fine."

"that's a lot of salt! i think you mean a quarter tsp no?"

by Laura Ross

"Eh, no, I think, that recipe fills a big mixing bowl, at which point a teaspoon of salt doesn't seem like much. I'll try again tomorrow though!"
