Wedding in DC

by Katey Ryan

We had so much fun that weekend. I remember Mike and Tom picked me up in Philly on the drive down from New York. We had a great conversation in the car and a blast dancing at the reception. [TOM: Hey Katey - Weren't you writing a script for school at that point? I think I remember talking about that in the car.]

[Michael: btw, when you were getting your coat at the wedding, my mom turned to me and whispered, "She's a keeper!!"] After the wedding, we stayed up late drinking beers and eating new Spicy Nacho Doritos. The next morning, Mrs. Kane showed me a tour of her gardens, the fish pond she was building, and an old secret pathway around the backyard.  Mike and I took an afternoon cruise (a little faster than I would have liked) around the Potomac in his dad's Porsche... Mike started by scoffing, "What, you dont wear a seatbelt?"  [Ha!!]

I'm wearing the bracelet today that I bought for that night – the clasp broke a few months ago and I just had it repaired. Somewhere along the way I lost the matching necklace, but I still love the bracelet.

"Katey, What a nice surprise to read your happy memory of the wedding weekend. It's 3:45 a.m. here in Virginia. I am a hopeless insomniac tonight. I loved taking you for the walk in my secret gargen and checking on the koi pond renovation. It's now fully repaired and looks just like it must have in 1929 when it was built. The fish are beginnning to come to the surface looking for food. They hibernate at the bottom in the winter, but sping is here (85 degrees last week). I love the long whiskers the Koi are sporting. They look pretty "dashing." Holly likes them, too, but she's 9 years old, and if she decides to take a dip in the pond, we'll be in big trouble. The 2 black labs across the street jump in every now and then. The fish just give them a wide berth."

"I've been surfing tonight. This brings back such happy memories. I think the whole family fell in love with you that weekend."
