Codo was a friend like no other. He was always there for you when you got home, greeting you with kisses. Cuddling with you when it was time for bed even though you told him he had to stay in his own. No matter what you did to keep him in his cage he always seemed to find his way out till the day where the cage turned into the house itself. He had eaten through the bars of his 140$ cage... But you couldn't blame him.
I remember the first time I let him out of the store box that hot summers day. I had the cage all ready for the new family arival. It was my first time owning a ferret and I was excited. I flopped down on the bed and opened the box. I thought the little guy would be hot and tired, even scared from being moved to a new home. I thought wrong. Codo was a wild thing, at first I thought he was rabid! He hopped right out of the box and started hopping all over my bed! Doing flips and hissing at me. First I thought it was just him trying to tell me who was going to be boss in this relationship, but as the time went by, our friendship became obvious. He didn't hate me and never harmed me. Everywhere I went the little bugger followed, never a step behind. He would crawl up your leg to sit on the couch with you and nibble at what ever was left on your plate. Though when it came to showers and baths he was never to be seen. His favorite thing was to play on the bed when the sheets were being changed. He would hop and hop and hope and hiss some more, trying to eat the blanket that came down on him.
We were the best of friends. Though I never knew what became of him. One night as I got off work I found out that my mother and sister had never brought him inside when they were working on the front door, I have never seen him since. December winds I'm afraid.....
