I'm a Proud Head Start Parent from Baltimore, Maryland. I truly believe in this program. My Daughter attended the Morgan Head Start program in 2002, and now my son attends the program @ St. Jerome's. I can tell you that my experience has been a positive one. My Son is three and this ishis 1st year - he is able to site his ABC's, and Identify each letter upper and lower case. This is my son 1st schooling experience. Children do not asked to be born in poverty - its truly a blessing for parent whom can not afford pre-school education.
I must say that Head Start is PARENT DRIVEN Solely. Our opinion matter, Our decision are heard, our impact is massive, unlike in Public Schooling. This is so imporant to me that I have a say.
Head Start - is for families, communities and it is a necessary place in our world. I've learned about so many programs in my community thur Head Start that I've used and passed on to others. I have not experienced another program like Head Start, that - has been so family oriented. From Health Awareness, Education, Job opportunity, Job training, Parenting, to Family fun events for the entire family. I hope and pray that Head Start is here for many generations to come.
