Life Lessons at Head Start

by Sequatchie Valley Head Start

Let’s face it: one of the most important things to learn in life is how it feels to be embarrassed – and how you’re going to respond. At Head Start, our experience is that children usually learn such life lessons pretty quickly in the company of others – like this little boy who thought he knew what he was talking about.

And, while we’re feeling amused by his consternation, let’s hope his playmate can manage to maintain the same indulgent kindness she has shown him for all the other people who will say dopey things to her in the many years to come.

"I wish I didn't know the crushing embarrassment of believing something completely and being proven absolutely wrong. And in front of people. Would it be comforting to the little kid to know that unless he's lucky, or just really smart, this won't be the last time he feels like that?"
