50' Woman

by Kristin Collins

Linda came back from lunch with something for us to drink.  At first I thought she had given me some of her 7-up.  Then noticing her holding a can of my favorite alcoholic beverage that any convenience store will ever have to offer, I said, "you know this has alcohol in it, right? "
" Of course."

In the next several weeks we've decided that we should share the responsibility of sneaking Kirin into the office.  It's going to be great.

As if I needed more proof.  The sunglasses look great, on everyone.

That's Ryan on a wall that I haven't tried yet.  I've been on the one next door.  A natural spiderwoman, I maneuver my way up...in booty shorts, in shoes that are trying to cut off my left big toe, and in somone else's' harness.  It's a really rad new practice for my mind.  As soon as it starts to wander, I get nervous, and consider the worst.  The last time I went, I realised that I need to fall.  Two night ago, Ryan said, " You haven't fallen yet."  I explained that I haven't because I'm  so afraid of falling, that I won't let it happen, but I know that I need to fall to get over that obstacle in my mind.  I'm not afraid of hitting the ground, I'm just totally afraid of that initial moment where you know you're out of control.

A letter.  My handwriting, mmmm, illegible, but ever so magical.

Yvonne and I waiting in the lobby of a penthouse project that this office worked on before I came to town.

This chandelier is gigantic. Giggleing as I climbed the staircase, Aileen called out, " Whats so funny?"  I said, " Wait until you see the chandelier."
It's fit for Los Vegas, and it was built completely wrong so the whole massive thing is off center and looks like it's going to fall.

At a loss for words, I had no idea how to repair the master bedroom.  I'm so glad I wasn't responsible for this project.  It's out of control, and yes, the bed is circular.  No, this isn't the poconos , or atlantic city- This is an extremely high end residence in Pudong with amazing views of the city.

This is the parent's bedroom.  All residences in China are designed with one of these because Grandma and Grandpa usually live with their son after he gets married.
It turned out perfect; for Alice in Wonderland.

From the little girl's bedroom you can see this view.  I hope she grows up to be an amazing architect.  She'll be able to study really beautiful architecture when she wakes up in the morning and when she goes to bed at night.
Next door to Jin Mao is the construction of the Shanghai World Financial Center which will be the  tallest building in the world when construction is complete.
It was an absolutely beautiful day in Shanghai.

Attack of the 50' Woman.

Sometimes, owners, and contractors make changes to a design without contacting the designer, so this room turned out so small that I could sit in a chair up against one wall, stretch my feet out and touch the opposite wall.  As you can see, its no place for an office, and I laughed again,  when I walked in.
Aileen: " Is something funny?" - " Just wait until you see the study"

I can't wait to use a bathtub again. This is me, just imagining how nice it'll be.

see you soon.

"Kristin, I just knew you'd have the solution for me as I ponder retirement. The parents' room idea is perfect. I just need to decide whether to move in with Tom or Michael. Let's not ask them. I'd hate to see them fight over me. I think I'll just show up one day like Mary Poppins and surprise them. Parents live for opportunities like this."

"That view is unbelievable. I get such a kick out of catching these glimpses of another country. Sometimes I forget that the rest of the world is there."
