Note that I'm taking the liberty of telling this in the first person, as if I were the Rick. I've done my best to recreate Scott's story telling magic, which is a monumental task.
Alright, true story... When I was a kid, my family would always drive down to the Outer Banks for a few weeks during the summers. One summer, my father and I bought a kite from Kitty Hawk Kites, which I don't know if you've heard me mention it before, but its the TIGHTEST kite store ever. So we bought a ridiculous kite, not some crappy Wal-mart piece.
After racing home, we were flying the new kite high out in front of our house on the beach as the Currituck winds carried the kite higher and higher. You know how windy it gets down there in the summer. All of the sudden, a light bulb went off in my head... Why don't I get some more string so I can really let this thing fly? So my dad and I went to the store and got another spool of string. When we got home, we tied one end of it to my kite and the other to a stake in front of the house. It was RIDICULOUS! I'd never seen a kite fly that high before. So each day, we added another spool of string and eventually it was flying so high that you couldnt even see it anymore. It must have been 20,000 feet in the air. As a matter of fact, it was so high that the planes that fly up and down the beach with the advertising banners had to fly around it.
And thats a true story.
