Ballou really wasn't crazy about Jack washing his head, but he finally got tired of resisting. When jack was done giving him a good scrubbing, the fell asleep, nose to nose.

Poor Jack has had some pretty unflattering photographs taken of him. I usually erase them, however this one is just too ... well ... too much. He woke up from a marathon nap; his eyes wouldn't focus, and his ears refused to "align." He couldn't decide whether to lick his parched lips or yawn. Here's the result.

Holly and Jack: No More Sibling Rivalry

How in the world did we all get to be so lucky? Jack seemed to need a "mother figure." Holly wanted nothing to do with him at first, but Jack was persistent and Holly has now accepted him. They often sleep together with Jack curled up next to Holly's stomach. Jack kneads Holly's tail in a rhythmic, soothing way before he drops off to sleep much like a toddler will suck his thumb before settling down for an afternoon nap. Holly is usually OK with that.

Tonight I was entrusted with the care of my daughter's orchid. It was in bloom for the first time in four years. Little did I know that Jack would relish the taste of fresh orchid.

I don't know what it is about Jack and boxes. Quite simply, he loves them.
I tried to get a photo when I first saw all three pets assembled peaceably. Ballou was looking very regal (and territorial) stretched out on Jack's scratching mat. The mat is trimmed in a royal purple kitty pattern and it has yellow tassels on the corners.
Holly was passed out with her head on the box. She was using it as a pillow.
God only knows what Jack was up to.
They give me such a good feeling. I love their unique personalities.
Here's Jack wearing the bag that the box came in. First, he got his head through the handle and looked a little like Superman in his cape. Then Jack imagined that big blue monster was chasing him, he took off at a fast clip and managed to work the bag down around his ample tummy. Safe at last!

This morning, Jack discovered how to open the cabinet where the good china is stored. I added the rubber bands to keep him from opening them. Jack decided to use them for his stretching exercise.
When Jack really gets going, he's nothing but a blur. His vet describes him as "squirmy." I'll say!

For Jack, Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries

Jack is fond of anything that rolls. Here he is playing with a bowl of cherries. He bites the stem, pulls the cherry out of the bowl, then bats it around the table. If it falls on the floor, he attacks it with vigor.

We adopted Jack (who was a stray) almost 3 months ago. He's about 12 months old and is brave about most things. My husband calls him "Action Jackson."
Jack is terrified of thunder, however. Luckily, there's a spot where only he can fit. Here's where I found him yesterday in the middle of a very loud storm. There is a tiny piece of moulding that is missing in that very spot. You can see it elsewhere.
